How to draw characters (and turn yourself into an illustrated alter ego)
Plus an announcement and something new
Hi everyone, long time no see!
I took a bit of a break from the newsletter over the summer and it took me a while to think about how and what I’d like this to be. There has been a big breakthrough in my illustration career because a few months ago, I signed a book deal for a series of non-fiction books for kids! I’m super excited about this and will keep you updated from time to time.
How to draw characters (in 4 steps)
Many of you seemed to like the post about drawing faces, if you need a reminder, you can check it out here:
Here is how we can build on that and create full-bodied characters.
Now that you have the basics, try to practice on yourself, or your friends, or members of your family.
And here is the new thing I wanted to introduce:
Date Your Sketchbook (DYSB), a bi-weekly drawing prompt to practice what we learned!
For this first week, I’d like you to draw yourself, based on the character template we saw. You can add a couple bits of information about yourself, something that’s new in your life, or something that matters to you in this season. I hope you’ll have fun with this, let me know how it goes!
And lastly, another big news!
My comic Hannah’s diary is getting crowdfunded in a collection of comics!
Hullabaloo is a collection of comics for kids aged 8-13. It’s a digital and print magazine and the kickstarter is happening right now! I got an advanced copy and read some of the comics already and I have to say, they are really cool! So if you want to get some high quality, super fun comics your kids will love to read, go ahead and fund this project!
Happy drawing!
Congratulations for your book deal!!!
amazing Zsofi!! congratulations!
